Going Old School
A few days ago I had the opportunity to shoot with a young upcoming photographer based in Athens, the one and only Nastazia Arapoglou. Nastazia is a good friend of mine and a very talented photographer. The reason was the new Mauritz Archive Collection by H&M. This Autumn H&M launched a capsule collection entirely dedicated to the origins of its menswear line. The Mauritz Archive Collection was inspired by the old files of the swedish fashion retailer. The collection includes very comfortable and easy to wear clothes such as knitted jackets, jeans and chinos, shirts and very cool accessories. The collection is already available in selected stores and also online. If you found yourself in Athens you can found the collection in H&M's flagship store in the center of the city.
For this photoshoot I chose some easy and comfortable pieces from the Mauritz Archive Collection. They can be worn from countryside to a casual day in the city. The part that I loved the most in this photoshoot, was when Nastazia was explaining to me all her thoughts about photography, art and what really means being a photographer. Her words were really inspiring.
"For me photography is a way to express my fears, my emotions and my experiences. When I am shooting I am creating a whole story in my mind. Even if I am working in fashion, the most important thing for me isn't the clothes. They are just another step to create the story and the appropriate aesthetics that I want. Usually they way that I am photographing is inspired by cinema and especially the decades before 80'. A very important element to achieve the appropriate vibe in my picture is the existence of a hidden narrative. A narrative that easily can be found, a narrative that can be used by everyone to create their own story''
