Mercedes-AMG and Rotwild have teamed up to set a new standard for high-performance mountain biking. The Rotwild GT-S was inspired by the AMG GT, and built for competition with its lightweight frame and slick yellow and black accents. Other bells and whistles include carbon fiber handles bars, multi-shift functionality, Formula AMG R1 Racing FCS disc brakes and 29-inch carbon fiber wheels with Continental Race King tires. Production of these beauties is limited to 100 units, with prices starting at €9,990 ($11,000 USD).
Italian car and coach-building firm Pininfarina has combined materials used inside 1930s vehicles with current technologies to produce a limited-edition bicycle. Famous for creating luxury tailor-made cars for manufacturers including Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Maserati, Pininfarina worked with bicycle maker 43 Milano to create the Fuoriserie bike using a combination of contemporary and classic materials. Aptly dubbed the Le Flâneur Sportif d’Hermès, this elegantly crafted two-wheeler sports a clean and reliable belt drive, rear hub gears, hydraulic disc brakes for maximum safety, and an ergonomic handlebar, saddle and carry handle wrapped in premium leather. The Le Flâneur Sportif d’Hermès will soon be available online and at select stockists.
Looking to enter the cycling world with a bike that could be considered a “statement piece,” SikSilk unveils its limited edition aluminum fixie. While its satin black frame is constructed from a lightweight steel, various parts of this bike, from its forks to its seat post, are made with a nickel and copper plated aluminum that will age beautifully to leave a unique patina. In addition to its eye-catching front wheel, this bicycle also features a flip-flop rear hub that allows its rider to switch from single speed to fixed gear with extreme ease.
What started as a passion project between a group of industrial designers has blossomed into a full-fledged bike revamp collective by the name of Auto Fabrica. Applying their expertise to creating custom handmade parts, the English designers craft living, roaring custom vintage bikes. The Type 4 seen above is a generation away from its original state, with AF creating a hand-beaten aluminum tank from scratch and adding new rod-spoked wheels to compliment the exposed Yamaha motor. The build is finished off by a supple suede seat and mint blue tank shell – underlining the Type 4′s handsome throwback aesthetic.
