The bold look of Hublot’s Classic Fusion makes way for the art of Romero Britto as the Swiss watchmaker has tapped the Brazilian neo-pop polymath to customize its timepiece for 2015′s Only Watch Auction. Inspired by the pop art movement in the artist’s native country, the design combines the traditional art of enameling with Britto’s cubist leanings as the watch’s white gold dial boasts a vibrant miniature work of meticulously applied champlevé Grand Feu enamel. Finished with a black case and bold red leather strap, the piece will be sold alongside the canvas that inspired it November 7, 2015 at the Only Watch Auction in Geneva to raise money for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. While we’ve typically understood vibrant color and bold face illustrations as the hallmarks of Swatch‘s design language, the Swiss brand aims to shift perceptions with the introduction of a new range. The “Big Classic” collection is comprised of seven all-new silhouettes, building a distinctly mature take on classic Swatch aesthetics. All pieces are based on the brand’s 41mm stainless steel “Irony” casing, from there giving users their own option of bezels and faces from large numeration to diver-inspired looks. Swatch also made use of premium materials, offering an array of crocodile-embossed leather and stainless steel straps for the clean designs.
