Hoping to capture more of a growing and increasingly competitive smartwatch market, Samsung adds to its own line with the Gear Live. Featuring a 1.63″ 320 x 320 Super AMOLED screen, the watch is powered by a 1.2GHz processor with 512MB of RAM and will use Googles new Android Wear wearable-specific operating system. This will allow users to control many of Google’s services including Google Now, Google Voice, Maps, Gmail, and Hangouts from their watch as well as its new Google Fit health and fitness metric aggregator.
Aside from Bluetooth 4.0, 4GBs of storage, and an interchangeable strap, the Samsung Gear Live also includes dust and water resistance and a heart rate monitor.
The $200 USD watch will debut on Google play later today for shipment on July 7 before later reaching Samsung’s retail locations.
