hufton + crow have just released a new set of images documenting the exterior facade of the now completed 520 West 28th building by Zaha Hadid Architects. Proposed in 2013, the luxurious condo complex houses 39 units — priced between $4.95 million and $50 million USD depending on the size — and is brimming with the architect’s signature use of curves, and choice of material.

As the first completed project in the city, the building is situated in an ever-growing neighbourhood, which sees a number of art galleries and restaurants, but with amenities like an IMAX cinema, large gymnasium, swimming pool, and extended outdoor section, the building is more than well equipped for a night in.

Art Meets Architecture and Design in Zaha Hadid's One Thousand Museum in Miami

Interior renderings have been released for the One Thousand Museum, a skyscraper in Downtown Miami that is just one of the many projects started by Zaha Hadid before her untimely passing. The 62-story tower features a contoured exterior, and a structurally strategic exoskeleton which has left the building almost entirely column-free and open. The luxurious residence also includes its own private helipad, a two-story aquatic center and sky lounge, a duplex penthouse, several full-floor penthouses, half-floor residences, townhouse residencies, indoor and outdoor spas, and a sculptural sun and swim terrace. Every detail of the building has been thoughtfully planned, including it`s location. The One Thousand Museum neighbors other stunning architectural feats such as the Perez Art Museum, the Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science, and Frank Gehry`s New World Symphony, while overlooking Museum Park and Biscayne Bay. The skyscraper will be completed posthumously, with expected completion in 2018.

Zaha Hadid's Dubai's Opus Office Tower

With construction moving ahead at the zaha hadid designed ‘opus office tower‘ in dubai, we take a closer look at the building’s interiors – also planned by the renowned iraqi-british architect. The holistic project involves the fitting out of the complex’s hotel rooms and apartment units, which are located at the upper levels of the structure. Hotel suites are designed to cater to local residents and international travelers alike, while apartments within the distinctive scheme combine an urban way of living with a home-away-from home appeal, offering panoramic views across the city below. Each room features an interactive media center and with an integrated digital music environment, while sliding and pivoting panels allow volumes to be readily and easily transformed.

Zaha Hadid Granite & Marble Furniture Collection for CITCO

Known predominately for neofuturistic architectural designs like the London Aquatics Center, Qatar’s 2022 World Cup stadium, her upcoming 40-story hotel tower for Macau’s City of Dreams project, renowned Iraqi-British architect Zaha Hadid took to Milan Design Week’s Salone del Mobile to unveil a series of brand new series of furniture. Created for Italian interior design firm CITCO, the series consists of three distinct pieces: a shelving unit, table, and fireplace. Reminiscent of the designer’s architecture thanks to cantilevers and archetypal curves, the granite-carved “Tela” shelving unit sees interwoven central support – thus allowing each level to extend far beyond the design’s core. The “Luna” table, on the other hand, is a monolithic carrara marble construction with undulating forms that extend to the floor to provide support for the flat surface. Finally, the collection is rounded out with the “Calla” – a reinterpretation of a wall-mounted fireplace, carved from Spanish negro marquina and composed of polished petal-like shapes that reflect the dancing flame.

Macau’s City of Dreams Hotel by Zaha Hadid

Universally revered architect Zaha Hadid will be making her own contribution to Macau’s bustling “City of Dreams” project with a new hotel tower to accompany the four that already exist on the property. Marked by a beautiful sculptural design with an exposed exoskeleton, the 40-story monolithic structure will boast 150,000 square-meters of floor space, approximately 780 guest rooms (including sprawling suites and sky villas), and a variety of gaming rooms, atriums, and restaurants to go along with both a spa and sky pool. Reinforcing the dynamism of the design, the building’s exoskeleton optimizes the hotel’s interior layout by reducing internal structural requirements while also allowing for neatly-integrated entrances and exits. Hadid’s “City of Dreams” hotel tower is on track for completion in 2017.
