How I Edit My Instagram Photos

Oh Instagram. With your odd algorithm where you don’t actually see any of the posts you want too and your Snapchat-esque Stories function, you’re not exactly flavour of the month with most people right now, but I can’t help but still love this photo sharing gem. Now I’ve never been one for a ‘theme‘ in the Instagram department per se, but a month or so ago I decided that my Instagram needed a bit of a refresh and a tidy. The only theme that I now follow is that I like the pictures I post to be taken on my proper camera, because photos taken on my iPhone seem to look like they’ve been shot on a potato these days (maybe the lens just needs a good clean?). However there are a few apps that I’ve been using to edit pictures that I haven’t mentioned before, so I thought I’d share incase your Instagram is giving you potato-vibes too.

VSCO. I’ve been using this bad boy for years. It’s got it all from filters to the ability to add warmth, coolness, brightness, contrast – it’s like the swiss army knife of photo editing on your phone. Personally I don’t use any of the Instagram editing tools and just use this instead. I love a bit of the F2 filter with a touch of coolness added, down two notches on contrast and up four notches on sharpness. DONE. Well, not exactly…

Facetune. Hear me out on this one. I don’t use this app for photoshopping aspects of my face and body (although it does make for some good entertainment to see what I’d actually look like with a jawline, smooth skin and cheekbones). However the whiten tool on this that most people use on their teeth is great for getting rid of any areas of yellowness or grey in photos that you want to look bight white. It’s a lengthy process mind you and is made much easier by having some sort of smartphone pen.

Snapseed. My sister introduced me to this and I feel like it’s made such a difference to my photos. There a tonne of functions on here, but it’s the brush tool that I love and I use it to spot overexpose and under-epoxse certain areas in a photo. Take the before and after picture above. I popped it through VSCO using my usual mix of filter, coolness, contrast and sharpening and then I edited it in Snapseed, increasing the exposure of the whole photo and then taking the exposure back down over the products to make sure that they showed up clearly and true to colour. OMG, I’m eye-rolling at myself right now – what an effort, eh?

Mosaico. This is a great app for creators who like to plan. I first heard about it from my friend Nikos and although it cost around a fiver to download, for me it’s money well spent as I can add pictures into my ‘grid’ to see what they look like when they’ll be uploaded and even write the captions so they’re all ready to go which hopefully saves me from some embarrassing typos.

5 REASONS WHY I LOVE LONDON!
Jacket: Hackhett London / sunglasses: Zegna / Shoes: Santoni / Pants & Turtle Neck: Massimo Dutti

Jacket: Hackhett London / sunglasses: Zegna / Shoes: Santoni / Pants & Turtle Neck: Massimo Dutti

There are a million and one reasons to love London, but here are my top 10 reasons for why you should jump on the next flight to this cooler-than-cool capital.  Seriously, what are you waiting for?

1. The world is here

London is as cosmopolitan as it is British with people from around the globe drawn to the city. Such diversity has seen London become a place of endless possibilities. See a film at a French cinema? No problem. Brunch at a Nordic bakery? Dinner at an authentic Mongolian restaurant? Take your pick. It’s not just food where London has benefited from diversity – over the years diversity has helped to drive creativity, making the capital an international leader in a variety of fields.

2. It celebrates creativity

London has been a magnet for creative spirits for centuries. From William Shakespeare to Jimi Hendrix and J.K. Rowling – the great and the good of the art world have been inspired by London. It still attracts the very best in musical, artistic and acting talent, as well as comedians and modern day literary greats. Endless works of fiction have been set and continue to be written about the streets of London with the likes of Sherlock Holmes, Harry Potter, and Mary Poppins all calling the city home.

3. Music is all around you

London moves to its own, distinct soundtrack. From Ed Sheeran and Adele to The Beatles and the Rolling Stones, the UK has produced countless artists who have shaped the international music scene. You can see an artist every night of the week – choose from superstars at the O2 Arena and indie rockers at the historic Brixton Academy, to up and coming bands in the bars of Camden. The city boasts a number of summer music festival with the British Summer Time festival at Hyde Park and Wireless at Finsbury Park being two of the biggest.

4. The nightlife is legendary

No two nights need ever be the same in London. Take in a spellbinding musical in the West End or watch some of Hollywood’s biggest names tread the boards at the big movie theatres at Leicester Square. Head to the hippest pop-up bars and restaurants in East London, or get a taste of London’s legendary club scene or sing your heart out at a gig featuring London’s hottest new bands or big name acts in Soho or Shoreditch.

5. The food will knock your socks off

British cuisine might be the punchline of many jokes, but you’ll be pleasantly surprised by what London has to offer. Swanky restaurants, delicious street food, and experimental dishes in quirky settings all contribute to London’s constantly evolving, global cuisine. That’s not to say you can’t get a traditional full English breakfast or a Sunday roast – which is not for the calorie conscious- just head to a traditional cafe or gastro pub for your taste of British cuisine.

Last Week's Best InstaMoments
XZX.jpg

Hello ladies and gentlemen!

Last week I had the opportunity to collaborate with a huge male magazine. We filmed a video that I am really excited about and I cant wait to share it with you. The video is all about the male grooming. How often we have to visit the barber shop? which beard shape fits me the best? We gonna deep dive in this field and we gonna answer everything really soon. By the way, do you think that grooming is something that we need to talk about more often?

XC.jpg

Last week I had also the opportunity to visit the new Caffe Torino in Athens. The first negroni bar that it was open only for 3 days in the center of the city. Martini is a brand that I really enjoy and I buy it all the time. The star of the night: Persephone Fizz. A mixture of Martini Riserva Speciale Bitter and Ambrato, Spiced Blood Orange Cordial, Lime juice and three cents of Gentleman’s soda.

Go With The Flaw
IMG_0738.jpg

Diesel celebrates the power of imperfection with its “Go With the Flaw” fall advertising campaign.

“Being unique is much more beautiful than being perfect,” explained Diesel artistic director Nicola Formichetti. “Change the way you look at things so even the bad becomes positive, overcoming obstacles and fears. You’ll have the best life possible.”

So I decided to go with the flaw as well with the following photoshoot. I wore an IM PERFECT t-shirt even if I am not. I embraced it and I felt really happy.

Strolling Around Wearing The Camel Coat
IMG_3516.jpg

Paris is as I mentioned a true love to me! I try to come back once per one or two years. This city inspires me every single time that I am here. I enjoy strolling around the city taking pictures and sketching amazing views.

IMG_9145.jpg

The camel coat is always a good idea if you want to stand out and dress up yourself. I founded mine shopping online in Massimo Dutti. The price was good enough and the materials super fine. I wore it with a total black outfit and I felt comfy and stylish to walk around all day long in Paris.

Parisian Vibes
IMG_3290.jpg

Paris may be the city of love and one of the most romantic places in the world but today I’ve been having a little romance with the city itself. It turns out I LOVE Paris.

I spent the day wandering among some of the main attractions, stopping for café lattes and macaroons, shopping in the boutique stores and generally loving every corner of this gorgeous city.

My first night in Paris, I slept with my curtains open so once again woke up to that incredible view. Waking up to a pinky sky and the Eiffel Tower was an absolute dream come true and I had to tear myself away to go for breakfast. After a breakfast of croissants and fresh fruit I took the short walk to the Eiffel Tower. I wandered around taking photos while doing my very best to avoid all the scammers and touts. I decided not to go up the tower because the queue was so long and I had so much I wanted to see. I headed to the Palais de Tokyo for a quick look around on my way to the Musee Galliera. This is also known as the Musee de la Mode, or the fashion museum. Of course, I went inside and loved it. My first day in Paris was just amazing.

My Life

I live somewhere between Athens & London. I don't have kids, neither I am married. I run my business and work long hours. I love travelling and I travel a lot! I go out for dinner. I love coffee and wine. I like to dress up but I love also walking around the city casual, even if you can't believe it.

Morning Habits

The first thing I want in the morning is a great cup of coffee. That first cup of coffee definitely gets my brain going and, like many, I do some of my most creative and productive work . However, early morning caffeine jolts can make my stomach acidic and gives me a jangly energy. I’ve started drinking green juice every morning.

I hate Sitting

Sitting is one of the worst byproducts of modern urban life. It’s horrible for my back and circulation and yours as well. I try to take some of my calls on my feet.

I Try To Stay Hydrated

The key is a big vessel. I drink out of large mason jars. Just put a post-it on your desk that says “drink water or feel like shit.”

Late Night You Will Find Me on My Screen

We all know the studies about screens & sleep. Sending emails and watching Netflix from bed is pretty enjoyable. Sure, it would be great to never look at a screen after 9 p.m. But, realistically, I simply try to create a short period between the time the computer and phone goes away and when I actually go to sleep. Sex is best, but reading is also acceptable.

6 Qualities That Make You a Fierce Gentleman
DSC_8504-2.jpg
  1. He takes care of his physical appearance & style. No matter what industry he is in, or what his station in life, the Fierce Gentleman is dressed for success every day. He takes no days off from excellence, and this is reflected in his dress as well as in his attitude. He has cultivated a personal style as a manner of creative self-expression in the world and navigates by his own compass, without waffling in response to “fashion trends.”
  2. He’s considerate. None of this fake-Alpha machismo crap: He doesn’t cut in line or steal cabs from other people at the end of the night.  To the contrary, he holds doors for people (not just women, although he does hold doors particularly for women), lets others cut in line at the grocery store if they have fewer items than him, and generally goes out of his way to accommodate others and pay them consideration in matters big and small.
  3. He has done, and is doing, his work. A F.G. works diligently and consistently to improve himself in all ways, and to continually remove the limits on his degrees of freedom in all aspects of life: physical, mental, emotional, financial, sexual, social, spiritual. In this endeavor he is not ashamed to consult experts, enlist aid, invest time and energy and money, and ask for help. Because of this, a F.G. can almost always be seen to be: athletic or working at some physical pursuit, self-aware and introspective, emotionally mature, mentally sharp, knowledgeable and worldly, calm and imperturbable, in control of his financial situation, present and aware, a competent-to-exceptional lover, with both breadth and depth of friendships and relationships, and with a deeper metaphysical perspective on life, the Universe, and everything.
  4. He has access to, and follows, his inner wisdom. He may call it God or the Divine Mind Within or insight or intuition or any other name, but the Fierce Gentleman has cultivated it, has regular access to it, and minds what it tells him. He also realizes that within him is an inexhaustible fountain of creativity, and therefore he has laid aside all fear of ever “running out of ideas.” (This may be particularly evident of he is involved in the arts or other creative pursuits.)
  5. He follows his own passions, wherever they may lead. Living in an age of near-perfect access to information and know-how, the Fierce Gentleman takes time to pursue his passions ardently and in a way that expresses his innate creativity. Because of this, he is often a fount of knowledge on an obscure topic you may have never heard of, or have a special skill or talent refined over years of practice that may or may not be valuable or desirable as the world defines such things (and little does he care for the world’s approval!) Or he may have dabbled in a variety of diverse areas, jack of all trades and master of none. A true F.G. may well oscillate through periods of intense focus on a single idea or business or purpose, forsaking all hobbies and passions in the meantime, and it is natural and proper that he should do this: he will return to his passion(s) when a cycle of rest and relaxation follows his next great triumph or achievement.
  6. He is a fierce warrior. Why call him a Fierce Gentleman? So far, his qualities seem to involve a great deal of service, gentleness, and consideration for others. How can such a one be called fierce? Isn’t this word to be reserved for menacing & dangerous wild animals, the violently intense, the threatening and the savage? Well, while all those descriptors could apply to a Fierce Gentleman whose loved ones have come under threat or attack and who realizes that he is the sole line of defense in the preservation of their persons, the word fierce also and equally means: “resolute or strenuously active” “of exceptional quality, exhibiting boldness or chutzpah” and “very, excellent.” These are the meanings we apply when we say a man is a Fierce Gentleman.

Summer Photodiary

"And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer."

In the infinite charm of the Aegean Sea, Serifos the "iron island" of the Cyclades stands out, in its unique way and beauty, enchanting the visitors at first sight.

Endless Blue

It’s the perfect time to write about summer, as I’m no longer afraid that I’d jinx it. It’s been great so far, and to top it all, we’re in the midst of a heat wave with scorching temperatures during the day. This is the thing about summer: it comes with sun-kissed promises and blue whispers for days filled with bright skies, adventures, and sunset dreaming. It’s a strange thing, this feeling of nostalgia, even though it’s still summer, so here are a few reasons why I love it so much.

The Warm Weather

The days are long, the evenings warm, the nights balmy, and even the city breeze carries the smell of the sea (I know, some may call this wishful thinking). But it’s a great feeling, waking up early and realising that the sun is already up, even though it's six in the morning. And when the sun’s out, I feel energised, and I can't wait to sit outside with my first cup of coffee and plan my day.

The Sense of Joy

I grew up in a country where the summers were long and hot and, admittedly, I took that for granted. But I love the Greek summer and I quickly learnt to appreciate the trepidation, the anticipation, and the pure jubilation that accompany each day of sunshine.

The Holidays

It's time for holidays, abroad or at home. It’s time to rent a villa on the beach, a city apartment, or a hotel room with a sea, lake or mountain view. It’s time to explore, to experience, to live, and to fall in and out of love. It’s time to make some memories. It’s time to go hiking, fishing, camping, or to cook a BBQ, sit by a campfire, collect seashells, go on a boat ride, or just lie on the beach. It’s also time to lounge in a hammock, on a deck chair, on the grass, on a balcony, or on a porch (oh, how I’d love to have one of those). Because in the summer having a lazy day and doing absolutely nothing is more than okay.

The Food, the Drinks, the Ice-cream

It’s easy to be healthy during the summer and eating a salad or drinking a fruit smoothie doesn’t make me feel miserable. I also discovered frozen yoghurt, loaded with mouthwatering toppings. My favourite topping at the moment is the roasted coconut flakes. And drinking the finest vodka is a must. So, cheers to an extraordinary summer with the delicate Grey Goose Le Grand Fizz.

Beer: Stella Artois

Beer: Stella Artois

Thank goodness for best friends! They are the only people whom you can truly be yourself around, and they don’t care if you have the occasional screw-up. In fact, there are things you can do with your best friends that you can never do with anyone else. Your best friends won’t care if you look or act silly, because chances are, they are doing it too.

I love my friends, I am not gonna lie! They don't live the way I do! They don't care about pictures, they do not hung out with me because of my job, they love me they way I am! I feel very lucky having them by my side.

For those reasons I am trying always to create memorable moments with them. Last week I had an idea of organizing a beach party just to see the sunset and drink beers. It was probably the best thing I did the last month. We had fun and we talked about everything! Those moments will be unforgettable! Do the same ladies and gentlemen. Live your life all the way, do not forget to appreciate what you have and why not just sit in the beach with a beer like I did! You gonna love it!

Sifnos Photodiary Vol.1
Shoes: Santoni

If you are looking for that perfect Greek island with a balance of beautiful beaches, low-key nightlife, white Cycladic villages, low-impact tourism and maybe the best food in the Cyclades, then look no further than Sifnos, where I have been coming for over thirty years. Just three hours from Athens by High-speed or five hours by normal ferry, Sifnos is easy to get to and you may never want to leave. Most people who visit Sifnos return again and many make it a yearly sojourn, while some go as far as to buy houses here and call it home.

I consider myself very lucky for being Greek. Traveling all the time is hard but I am trying to visit my spend each summer a few weeks or more in the Greek islands. The climate in the summer is very warm so you need to pack light. Also you should consider that the atmosphere in the islands is laid back so casual clothing is a must. But for my more dressing looks I am choosing a couple of lightweight suits and comfortable shoes that I can wear all day long and explore every corner of those islands. For this trip i chose my favorite santoni shoes which you can see upclose on the pictures. You know how much I love Santoni Shoes, you can check my posts on my instagram profile!

To choose your own pair of Santoni shoes go check the Santoni official site ( www.santonishoes.com ). Sales are on!!!!

Located in the northern side of the Cyclades, Tinos island is ideal for relaxing family holidays. The beaches are calm and sandy, surrounded by many tourist facilities and accommodation. The most traditional villages are located in the inland and they are famous for the picturesque architecture. Pyrgos is the most characteristic village of Tinos Greece, with a long tradition in marble carving. Apart from a calm holiday place, the island is special for the Greeks as it hosts the Church of Panagia (Virgin), considered the protector of the country, with a miraculous icon inside. This church receives thousands of pilgrims all year round, particularly on the 15th of August, on the occasion of the Dormition of the Virgin.

The island is located next to Mykonos, Syros and Delos, ideal if you want to visit other islands too. Tinos experiences a Mediterranean climate and has warm and dry summers and mild and wet winters. In the island you come across the etesians (also known as meltemi winds) the strong, dry north winds of the Aegean Sea, which blow from about mid-May to mid-September. They are at their strongest in the afternoon and often die down at night, but sometimes meltemi winds last for days without a break. Meltemi winds are dangerous to sailors because they come up in clear weather without warning and can blow at 7-8 Beaufort.

Summer is officially here!

Lately I am in the mood to add some color in my wardrobe, and I find myself searching street styles with bright colored clothes. I find them so appropriate for summer and so posh.

Combining bright colors is quiet tricky though and you will have to be very careful especially in the accessories that you will go for. Try to choose neutral colors for your shoes and your sunglasses, otherwise you will end looking funny.

Finally be careful and pick maximum 2 bright colors to come up with this look. Adding more colors is risky.

Summertime is all about having fun, why don't we all start having more fun with our clothes too?

CLASSIC BUT YET MODERN IN THAT SUIT!

From the moment i saw this suit I went completely crazy. Last week I visited the Dimitris Petrou atelier. The jacket's pattern felt to me really cool, young and edgy. The classic, cropped, blue pants that was paired with me make it feel really unique. So I choose them for a big event that I have to attend to. Of course i compared them with a classic Santoni double monk pair of shoes. What are your thoughts about it? Do not hesitate to contact me for more details about the suit, the materials and the way you can make it yours!
