Shopping - September Issue

Hello guys!

As you may already know, I love shopping! I try always to find unique pieces for my closet but also things that will fit in really easy.

I was looking for a great pair of white sneakers for the longest but I wanted a really unique piece! Thank god I found those Etro white leather sneakers! I can easily where them from day to night and the most important you will not see everyone wearing them. Go check them! I highly recommend them.

Balenciaga is so hot at the moment. Last year I bought the sock trainers and I really loved them. For this season I though why not to go for the Triple S. The ugly shoe trend is still on and even though they are really heavy, they look amazing.

Last but not least I wanted to buy a new backpack for everyday use. I wanted a classic piece that I could also travel with. So Louis Vuitton was definitely the one! I bough the Christopher PM and it is really comfortable and stylish.

BMW Looks to the Future With Its Vision Next 100 Concept

This year marks the 100-year anniversary of The Ultimate Driving Machine and, to celebrate, BMW has unveiled its most futuristic concept to date. Dubbed the Vision Next 100, the car follows the likes of January’s i8 concepts and envisions what the BMW of 2116 may look like. The result? A low-sitting, fully electric sedan that boasts the likes of four butterfly doors (each of which opens via proximity sensors), “flexible skin”-covered wheels, and the ability to drive itself. The car even boasts a driver-centric Boost mode whereby the driver takes control of the wheel as “Alive Geometry” presents three-dimensional warning messages or even shows the optimum line and speed the driver should take on the road. If autonomous Ease mode is more your style, however, you can kick back as the steering wheel becomes flush with the dash, the seats recline to a more comfy limo-like ride and the car itself points out surrounding scenery and passing landmarks. The Vision Next 100 also employs a so-called Companion personal assistant that monitors both the driver and passengers, learns their habits and adapts to their needs over time — it can even interact with nearby pedestrians.

For more on the German automotive giant’s vision of century ahead, venture on over to BMW’s dedicated Next 100 website.

Small Summer Cabin in Norway

Norwegian studio Lund Hagem has designed a beautiful cabin nestled between two large boulders. The boulders create a natural formation making a protected area, of which the building is accessible from a small path cutting through a heavily vegetated area. The design of the cabin itself was also intended to extend its natural surroundings, with a unique precast roof that juts out from the side of the rock and angles down to meet the ground. This roof also doubles as a staircase that leads to the deck, while the interior and exterior are seamlessly integrated. Check out more sleek and innovative designs at Lund Hagem’s site.

THE FINE ART OF WATCHMAKING FROM SCHAFFHAUSEN

Ladies & Gentlemen,

Let us introduce you to the world of watchmaking and the IWC universe. A few days ago we had the opportunity to visit Schaffhausen City and to dive deep in the IWC world. IWC is a premium brand in the international luxury watch segment, well known for their top-quality products in haute horlogerie. Located in Schaffhausen city more than 1100 employees, including 120 eminently qualified watchmakers, are involved in the development, manufacture and distribution of perfect mechanical masterpieces.

IWC’s historic headquarters with the newly built extensions and the IWC museum

The company has made its name internationally through a passion for innovative solutions and technical inventiveness. As one of the world’s leading premium brands in the luxury watch segment, IWC creates masterpieces of haute horlogerie, which combine engineering and precision with exclusive design. The reputation of the brand from Schaffhausen is founded not least on the fact that its highly qualified employees master every step of the production process behind in-house movements and complications such as the minute repeater, the tourbillon and the perpetual calendar. For the designers and construction specialists at IWC, the claim to excellence, “Probus Scafusia” – “Craftsmanship made in Schaffhausen”, which was first formulated in 1903, is not only an enormous challenge; it is also their great passion.

Every IWC watch is professionally finished by masters of their trade. For they are the individuals whose trained eyes, nimble fingers and precision instruments put together IWC watches from a collection of single parts: each a fascinating showpiece of meticulous workmanship, functionality and design; each an outstanding example of the art of watchmaking at its very best.

Back in 1993, on the occasion of its 125th anniversary, IWC set up an exclusive museum in the attic of its headquarters – by this time a listed building – and became Switzerland’s first watch manufacturer with such a facility. In 2007, IWC trumped its past achievements with a totally newly designed watch museum on the converted ground floor of the main building. In spaces once given over to the manufacture of cases and watch parts, light-flooded rooms and display cases set off the exhibits to their best advantage. Production has been relocated to more spacious premises directly next door, making room for many more exhibits and a multimedia presentation documenting the company’s history.

The new home of IWC watches represents the world of an international luxury brand: together with the objects on display, it creates surroundings that are at once modern yet timeless, luxurious yet functional, and with every convenience the visitor could possibly wish for.

Over 230 carefully selected items bear witness to a manufacturer that started making a name for itself with unusually reliable quality and unmistakable, universally appealing design from the very beginning.

For IWC, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is all about the contribution they make towards improving society and the environment. They believe that embracing their ecological and social commitment will enable them to make a positive contribution to the well-being of our people, our community and our environment, and is ultimately the best way to guarantee their own long-term success. The company’s operations are therefore based on a holistic approach that combines supreme precision and exclusive design while ensuring the highest standards of sustainable industry practice.

IWC’s watch families – the Pilot’s Watches, Portuguese, Ingenieur, Aquatimer, Da Vinci and Portofino – look back on a long tradition. They attest the innovation of the engineers in Schaffhausen through four generations and embrace the broad range of the company’s watchmaking expertise: from robust watches for everyday use to professional sports watches and the complexities of haute horlogerie at its finest. These are joined by watch specialities such as the Grande Complication and the IWC Vintage Collection.

GDM team admits that visiting the IWC headquarters was a lifetime experience.

Panerai (PAM 570) Radiomir 1940 3 Days GMT Oro Rosso

Italian luxury watchmaker Panerai has recently added a new silhouette to its family of Radiomir watches with the Radiomir 1940 3 Days GMT Oro Rosso. Like a family name of any other sort, the elongated title definitely implies a sort of regality about the piece. The watch is issued with a handsome 47mm red gold casing, which is accented with illuminated dials and hands. Within the body, a simplified three-hand system indicates hours, minutes, and a second timezone – which justifies the “GMT” engraved above 9 o’clock. A hand-wound Panerai P.3001/10 movement under the hood features a three-day power reserve, which is visible through the caseback. Limited to just 300 editions, check out Panerai’s latest offering above, then head to the brand site to pick up one for yourself.

Aside from its standout road performance, the S600 features MAGIC BODY CONTROL media center and a 3D surround system – courtesy with Burmester – embedded into the plush leather interior.
